Storing Your Tree
A good artificial tree is an investment that should look beautiful for a decade or more. The difference between a tree that stays lush and one that droops after a couple of seasons almost always comes down to how it’s packed away. Here’s how to do it properly.
1. Undecorate in reverse
Take everything off in the opposite order you put it on: toppers and baubles first, then ribbon, then lights last. Removing lights gently (rather than yanking) protects the bulbs and wiring for next year.
2. Fold the branches inward
Starting from the bottom, press each branch up toward the trunk. This slims the tree down so it slides easily into its bag or box without bending the tips out of shape.
3. Use a proper storage bag
A dedicated storage bag keeps dust, moisture and pests out far better than the original cardboard carton, which can sag over time. Many of our trees come with a reusable bag for exactly this reason.
4. Store it cool, dry and upright
Heat and damp are the enemies of artificial foliage and light cords. Keep the tree somewhere cool and dry — a wardrobe, under a bed, or on a shelf in the garage away from direct sun. Store it upright or lying flat, never crushed under heavy boxes.
5. Fluff as you go next year
When you set it up again, work from the bottom up and gently bend and separate the branch tips outward. Ten minutes of fluffing is what makes a packed-away tree look brand new.
